More than just an English program, The ☆ σGEAP learning style p×↔uts an emphasis on developing student§±s’ team work and♠✘₩♣ problem solving skills, giving students the← opportunity to display init∞ ≠✘iative and to build confidence.&n♥•πbsp; As students’ language abi✘€∑→lity improves, students will also be deve★→loping skills that can be a↓♠×¥pplied outside the classroom, whether for stu¥λ" dents’ career or further studiesΩσ. The GEAP program has 5 main levelsγ , from Beginner to Advanced. Elective cours$e delivered each Friday are"₹ € available for Students to choose to↔→ meet their personal needs: Global Commu≥×'nication Skills, Gloσ≠δ¥bal Citizenship, Aust'αλralian Studies and Popul•₽βar Culture, TOEFL/IELTS Tests P £εreparation etc.
Accommodation
The students will be placed in ho✘♣βmestay accommodation. Students will b™e placed in pairs with a ¶↔≥n Australian family for a firsthand experience o±♦f Australian family life. Homestay β™ is a wonderful way for stu♣¶✘dents to improve their Engl ₹↓>ish, gain confidence, learn®φ≈ more about Australian culture <↕÷and meet new people in a >φfriendly, nurturing environment. T♠εhe ELC have carefully chosen the host families λδαand many of the families have h§₩✔osted international students forΩ≈↑ us for several years. '∏≈ A full-time dedicated Homes•>↓'tay Coordinator will provi€ εde on-going support to students a✘ε×nd host families.

August 19 – December 13, 2019
GEAP has been designed >λ>by ELC to develop the communication, languaε→≈λge and learning skil₽•ls needed to operate on personal and social ↕βlevels within an Australian academic c€¶₽☆ontext. At higher levels, the GEAP♥★♦ also aims to provide participants w₽ ↓ith some understanding of university e"♠xpectations should they choose to≥ >• continue studying at a tertiaryσ→ level in Australia. Within this conte™•xt, a range of learning goals can be accommoda×→Ω∑ted. Some participants int✔→♣©end to go on to do academic study but¶≥ ☆ need to increase their current level ¶☆π♣of English proficiency; others '£¶want to increase their confiden∑ ₩ce in using English to communicate♥ both professionally and personallδ♦★ y in a real-world context.
There are five levels ranging from el'₽ementary to advanced. Participants have €<♣20 hours of class time per week. The core progra ™≈m runs for 4 hours per day. In these classes ∏ ∏the focus is on the development of ∑↕€participants’ speaki™"₽♠ng, listening, reading and writing skills.
In addition, participants can also choose¶↓ a Friday GEAP Specialisation class that bestβπ suits their needs, such as Globaαγ®l Communication Skills, Global Citizenship, Austr ₽↕↓alian Studies and Popular CulturΩ₹e, Academic Preparation and TOEFL, IELTS Prepara♥±tion and Get Ahead in Readin&"εg and Writing.
Entry criteria:
There are no specific entry requirements for ↔α≈the GEAP program. Students will sit a place§™ment test to ensure that÷←§ they are enrolled in th≥ e appropriate level.

Study Abroad students ca≥α n study for one or two semesters (Semester 1) 'γat the University of Adelaγ₹ide, commencing in Semester ₩≠1 (February – July) or Semester 2 (Julyε<"↓ – November).
A standard full-time ₽€≥↔workload is considered to be either 4 co≤×♦σurses (12 units) or 3 courses (9 units)&•✘Ω. The scope of subjec∏☆₹©ts includes Arts & Humanities, Engineeri♥←ng, Computer & Mathema™©tical Sciences, Health & Medical Sci↓÷÷πences, Professions, Sciences and etc≥↑. Entry Requirements
• Be enrolled in a$≤n undergraduate or postgraduate program i≠€n an overseas institution tha™✘•∞t does not have an official exchange agre&ement in place with the α×λ≤University of Adelaide or does notε↕ have any exchange places av®β∏≥ailable
• Have completed at £ least one year (or equivalent) o✘←f tertiary-level study prior to φ÷commencement in your Study AπΩ♦σbroad program.
• Meet the English Language≥&π₹ Requirements: TOEFL 79 (writ>£λ₩ing 21, speaking 18, reading ×∏λand listing 13); IELTαπσS 6.5 (no single component lower than 6.0)
• Must achieve a 2.5/4.0 m↓Ωinimum GPA
